- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 burger buns (sesame or brioche)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting buns)
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 8–10 pickle slices
- 4 red onion rings (optional)
- Ketchup and mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Form ground beef into 4 patties, adding a thumbprint in the center. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Place patties on the grill and cook 3–4 minutes per side. Add cheese slices in final minute and cover to melt.
- Butter buns and toast on grill until golden. Add lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion to the bottom bun.
- Ensure patties reach 160°F internal temp. Let rest 2 minutes after grilling.
- Place cheesy patty on top of toppings. Add desired sauces.
- Top with bun and serve hot with fries or salad.
